Second Cathedral is the largest of the underwater caverns on Lanai.  Enter Second Cathedral through the opening to the on the far side of the structure through one of the smaller tubes and into the arched atrium. Turning right into the largest of the lava tubes, look up as a rare species of Black Coral hangs dramatically above you, known as the Chandelier. There is a cup coral garden on the underside of the archway your dive guides will be sure to point out.  The exit is either through the lower tube and on the left or up the chimney on the right, then directly to the left is another coral garden.  Swimming to the left and up over the first arch, there is a second layer of lava tube directly ahead.  Check under ledges for some rare species of eel, many lobster and squirrelfish can also be found hiding in the shadows. Nudibranchs, schooling blue-stripe snappers, yellow tangs, all kinds of wrasse including the Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse, and butterfly fish are also found along the outside of the Second Cathedral dive site.  Watch the sand channels seaward and you might spot some of the larger pelagic species.
