Description: This is a 66-hour course. This will be your first step into the PADI Professional Ratings. This will allow you to start leading divers on guided dives, assist PADI Instructors in the conducting of PADI related courses. There will be a waterman skills assessment conducted to ensure that you are capable of assisting in diving related emergencies. This will include a 400-yard timed swim, an 800-yard timed Mask/Fins/Snorkel swim, a 100-yard timed tired diver tow, a 15-minute tread water and a gear exchange under water while doing a buddy breath.

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, waterskills exercises and workshops, and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of scuba diving activities. Topics and practical workshops include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers
  • Diver safety and risk management
  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills
  • Business of diving and your career
  • Awareness of the dive environment
  • Dive setup and management
  • Mapping an open water site
  • Conducting dive briefings
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive
  • Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course
  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

Objective: When this course is completed, the student will be certified as a PADI Divemaster. This will prepare a student for the intensive PADI Instructor Development Course. The student will have a good knowledge of dive theory and a better knowledge of dive equipment and skills.
