An exciting alternative to a standard scuba regulator is a Full Face Mask! (FFM) Using an FFM is easy, a lot of fun and offers some great advantages to a standard Scuba regulator, such as keeping your entire face warm during those cold winter and quarry dives, no jaw fatigue or water against your face, hard to knock a mask off, great field of vision and you can add a communications unit so that you can talk to each other

During the PADI Full Face Mask Diver course you will learn how to use a full face mask, the advantages of using a full face mask, and the emergency procedures to switch to your backup regulator and regular mask. You will also explore the underwater communications systems that can be used with a full face mask.

The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

Cost: $229 not including price of charter. Charter of your choice is discounted $20 for specialty students. Best charters = Molokini Crater, Turtle Reef, Carthaginian

Requirements – 1 Confined Water and 2 Open Water dives, Open Water Diver ages 12 and up.  You must bring your own Full Face Mask.

  • Be aware that PADI specialty classes do not allow students to be in any type of overhead environment making Lanai not a good charter on which to do specialties.
  • Most specialty courses can be completed as beach dives, however, completing them off the boat is an option.
  • You do not need to be a PADI certified diver to do PADI Specialty courses. Equivalent certification from any recognized scuba certification agency is fine (NAUI, SSI, SDI, CMAS, etc.).
  • As with any training, you will need to complete the PADI Medical Questionnaire and get Physician’s clearance if needed.
