Summer is Coming!!!

With the summer months approaching on the mainland, prime diving season rolls into high gear and speaking of gear, don't forget to have yours checked out by your local dive tech service department before you head to the water. O-rings, seats and diaphragms deteriorate even during periods of storage. A small worn part can ruin a dive.

Curious about diving in Maui during May and June?

For the savvy dive traveler, itís a great time to go to Maui. The weather is gorgeous (as always), there are less people on island (that usually equates to airfare discounts), and the diving conditions are perfect 99% of the time. So while your friends are busy putting in their summer gardens, why not escape to Maui for a week of splendid diving? You won't be disappointed. DAN 1,000th DAN Business Member

On November 26, 2002, Lahaina Divers became the 1000th Business Member of DAN (Divers Alert Network). In conjunction with DAN, Lahaina Divers now offers the full array of educational opportunities including Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries, Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Scuba Diving.

And while we're on the subject, when youre traveling be sure to purchase DAN travel insurance. With rates beginning at $54 / year, (includes DAN membership), it is well worth it. Consider this: a diver recently on island ruptured her eardrum and was delayed from returning home for one week. DAN insurance paid the additional expenses for hotel, flight change fee, medical, etc; she incurred as a result of her injury. Go to http://www.diversalertnetwork.org

More to come in July....
